Ineffable
In an easy to wear boomerang shape, Ineffable is a light and breezy exploration of texture and color. The long and skinny shape makes it a versatile piece for any wardrobe.
I am fascinated with the textures of these yarns - the rustic, silk noil Kinu and fluffy, glossy silk/mohair blend Sensai contrast beautifully. The pops of color against the white background are striking, but Ineffable would look equally lovely with a dark background and lighter mohair stripes.
Final Measurements
98” wingspan, 16” deep
Materials
Ito Kinu (464yds, 50 gram cone), 1 cone in colorway 389 White
Ito Sensai (262yds, 20 gram skein), 1 skein each in colorways 321 Smoke Gray, 326 Pool Blue, 302 Cinnamon
Needles
US size 4 circular needle
Gauge
17 stitches and 34 rows = 4” in stockinette stitch, blocked. Gauge isn’t critical for this project, but will affect yardage and final size.
The original sample used almost the entire cone of Kinu, and a little more than half of each skein of Sensai. Want to make a two color version? You will need 2 skeins of Sensai, or at least 35 grams.
A larger or smaller shawl can be achieved by adding or subtracting repeats of the stripe pattern.
