This is a listing for a pattern for a very “long wingspan” crescent shaped shawlette that is comprised of two different lace stitches. The ornate lace edging stitch is added in the traditional Shetland manner, and gives a beautiful and graceful bottom to the shawlette. Nor is it nearly as difficult as it looks.

The shawlette measures 68 inches at the widest points across the top and is 22 inches deep at the deepest point. It is made with one of the heavier fingering weight yarns, and is knit on size 7 (U.S.) needles. The shawlette requires approximately 700 yards of yarn making it both a perfect first time lace shawlette project, as well as the perfect gift.

The stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting).

The shawlette was expertly test knitted by Barbara Robertson, who can be contacted at: Barb. Robertson@ gmail.com and who is known on Ravelry as NanaKnits4Us. The yarn used in the sample is Handmaiden’s Casbah yarn, in colorway, Tourmaline, and requires approximately two skeins of that yarn to complete.
