itha: is a toe up, stranded sock knit on two circular needles with a short row heel. The pattern is of intermediate difficulty, with notes on working with two color, stranded knitting. Knowledge of sock construction and the use of color charts is suggested. The two color stranded knitting is also sometimes referred to as Fair Isle, or Faux Fair Isle. This pattern is appropriate for knitters who have some experience with sock knitting, but want to try their first toe up or stranded pattern.

Note: this pattern can easily be adapted to work on 5 DPN’s if this is your preference. Knit the top of the toe and instep on your first two DPN’s, and the sole and heel stitches on the second two DPN’s.

Additional Sizing information:

Yarn from Nurturing Fibers is featured in this pattern which makes great use of color changing yarns paired with a solid or semi solid. You will need one skein in a color changing or variegated color, and one skein of solid or semi solid color.Yarn can be purchased at: or

Carle of Nurturing Fibers is generously offering a discount on the yarn if a pattern is purchased. There is a code in the pattern which can be used at checkout for the yarn.

Many thanks to Carle of Nurturing Fibers for creating such lovely colors and providing yarn support. Carle’s self striping yarn and coordinating semi solid colors are really amazing! The yarn has a wonderful twist and blooms to a very soft fabric with the first washing. You really need to treat yourself to this yarn!

Thanks to my brave test knitters who have suffered through the many versions of this pattern and provided such great feedback. The heel is much better, and the pattern is easier to understand due to your comments and help.
