Do not adjust your monitor! You’re not seeing double. It’s the magic of reversible cables.

Mindbending to contemplate. Easy to knit! (Shhhhh…don’t tell anyone…)

Impress your family, friends, favourite enemies, adorable pet iguana, the paparazzi, and yourself with your mad skills and a cold weather scarf that looks totally hot any way you wear it!

Named “Kahe”, after the Estonian word for twin, this cozy scarf features identical cable detail on both sides – you won’t be able to tell them apart! Warm and practical, stylish and striking, Kahe is a fab and functional accessory for ladies and gents alike.

Pattern & construction notes:

This pattern features both written and charted instructions.

The sample Kahe scarf was knit with a single strand of light worsted weight yarn for comfort and warmth.

The scarf texture is automatically duplicated on both sides of the piece as you knit, thanks to a ribbed cable. Clear directions are provided in the scarf pattern for this deceptively simple, reversible cable technique. A chart illustrating the knit/purl stitch construction of the cables is included for handy visual reference.

Finished size (Cascade 220 Superwash, after blocking): approx. 15.25 cm / 6” x 170 cm / 67”

Kahe has received professional technical editing by KTLV , and been generously test knit by shhshh, Veeeens, MoonTouched and, PixieEars .

Skill level:

Kahe is a suitable and satisfying knit for experienced beginners who already have a cable project or two under their belts. If you know how to knit, purl, and wield a cable needle, this project is for you! A great introduction to reversible cables.
