“Häkelgarn” means crochet thread. The pattern suggests thin needles, the diameter is 20cm.

Note: Elise Sachse’s charts have a particular quirk which seems to be unique to her style - she almost always uses k2tog-tbl instead of ssk for a left-leaning decrease. The symbol she uses for this is a double-diamond in a single box, and it’s a symbol rarely used by other Beyer designers.

The chart for Kalliope uses this double-diamond symbol. In addition, “Kalliope” is the name of one of the Greek muses, which Sachse frequently uses as names for her doiles (see Beyer Handarbeits-Vorlagen, 62: Kleine Deckchen in Kunststrickerei ).
