As a person living in London, I find myself often overwhelmed with the old English propaganda posters which were used to boost morale during the second world war. They have become an icon of popular media, in original or altered versions.

I had the pleasure of working with a lovely eleven year old girl who collected all sorts of items which had the original slogan or variations printed on them. She had cups, T-shirts, posters, cards, diaries and various other things.

You can guess where this is going… As a knitter, I felt obliged to add to that collection, and as there wasn’t much out there in terms of patterns, I decided to make up my own, for fingerless gloves.

Feel free to add your own creativity by replacing some of the words with others.. I have chosen to go for “Keep calm and rock on”, as I felt that suited the intended recipient quite well, but there’s not reason you couldn’t change that.

Two skeins of fingering / 4ply yarn in contrasting colours are needed to make these mitts. Sizes range from small to large so these mitts are bound to fit most people.

This is my first pattern and although it has been proof tested, some errors may have slipped through. If you happen to come across any, please let me know and I will correct them.

If you have any questions about this feel free to ask, I’m more than happy to answer :)
