This adorable cowl will make a delightful addition to your winter ensemble. The stripes add lots of interest to a wool pea coat, and the garter stitch is so soft and cuddly, you just might not want to take it off, even when you duck into a cafe to warm up. It’s a perfect piece for a casual evening with a very special someone. The stripes are worked from opposite ends of a ball of gradient yarn, such that the contrast between the two colors becomes softer as you work from bottom to top. It’s a fast, relaxing, interesting knit and will appeal to process and product knitters alike.

Gauge:
5 sts x 9 rows = 1 inches/2.5cm in garter stitch. Block your swatch.

Finished Garment:
21in/53cm around x 25in/63cm long.

NOTE: The short rows and slipped stitches that form the kerchief portion of the cowl block out to have a longer row gauge than this, resulting in a greater length dimension than the standard gauge would suggest

Yarn: 360yds/330m of a gradient, 100% superwash merino sportweight yarn. Sample was knit up using a Copper Corgi Gradient Set. Colorway: Mouse Grey Wedgewood.

Needles:
#8 US/5mm 32” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge.

Notions:
Tapestry needle.
