A generous and satisfyingly sized cowl that combines the coziness of knitting with the warm density of hand quilting. The cowl is constructed by knitting a rectangle of 2 x 2 ribbing, holding together a strand of standard worsted weight yarn with a strand of lace weight yarn to create a custom marled look. You’ll need approximately 420 yards of each yarn to complete this design. The knitting is then sewn into a loop with a fabric panel of shashiko-inspired hand stitching.

I made this out of vintage yarn from my stash, and for the pattern choose yarns with similar characteristics.
