Here is a scarf pattern that will help you learn to knit. The explanations of the pattern contains a little more detail than a “standard” knitting pattern since it is intended for beginning knitters and all knitters. With each section of the headscarf, you will learn a new technique to put into practice. Since the knitting stitches are varied, each section will produce a different width, which is normal. This “problem” will be resolved when you block the scarf. That said, the sections will all be different from each other and that’s what makes the charm of this design.

Each section of the scarf is explained in writing and to familiarize you with reading knitting charts, each section is also found at the end of the pattern in chart form. You have the choice to follow one or the other: written instructions or charts. That said, I strongly recommend learning to read the knitting charts as they allow you to visualize rows and, with a little practice, to “understand” the meaning of the pattern.
