Knotical is a breezy top that is knitted like a drop-shoulder tank, but looks like a cap-sleeved tee. The shape of this garment is created by using smaller needles and a tighter gauged stitch pattern to make the waistband and larger needles with a larger gauged stitch pattern for the upper part of the top. Once you get the knotted openwork stitch pattern down, there’s little more to do than knit up a big tube of fabric and seam the shoulders.

There is no increasing or decreasing. In spite of its simplicity, the top drapes nicely and has a flowing shape when worn. The stitch pattern is very open, so this is a good piece to wear over a cami, sundress, or swimsuit.

Note: Since the shirt is basically knitted as a tube, in order for it to be wide enough to make capped sleeves, it has a lot of ease through the mid-section, though the cotton is heavier and drapes, giving it shape when I wear it. Several knitters have commented that it was huge early in the knitting. If you don’t want so much ease, cast on a smaller size, but be aware of the affect it will have on the shoulder width. The sweater circumference is the circumference around your shoulders, not your chest or waist. As always, doing a gauge swatch will help you get the size you want.

Sizes: Demo is S, instructions for changing size to XS-XXXL included.
