This is a pattern for a knit shawl that features two stitches. The border stitch is a Russian stitch, and the focal stitch comes to us from Japan. Both are interesting and fun to knit. Together make an elegant and very unique shawl. The stitches, although they are come to us from other countries, are easily learned by American, Canadian and European knitters, especially those who love knitting lace, mesh and cable lace. There are also instructions contained within the pattern for an optional crocheted edging.

Skill Level: Intermediate (assuming a basic knowledge of lace knitting and cabling).

The two stitches are both charted and written out line by line.

The wrap was expertly pattern tested by Barbara Robertson, who can be contacted at: Barb.Robertson@gmail.com, and was made using Mrs. Crosby’s Hat Box yarn in colorway Monkey Orchid.
