Here’s another version of the diamond-trellis motif, in lace this time. The two toe-shaping lines are placed where lines of yarn-overs would fall in the pattern, thus preserving the integrity of the trellis pattern around the toe. The lace pattern covers the whole top of the sock except for a triangle at the back of the heel and the “toenail zone.” That’s becasue lace and toenails really do not play well together, and lace wouldn’t stand up well to possible abrasion from shoes.
