Named after Lady Grantham of Downton Abbey, this hat features a lace design that is lovely and delicate but not too “holey”, just as Lady Grantham is pretty but has unexpected reserves of strength.
The naturally formed arches of the edging echo the arches of the great house itself.

The hat is worked in a knitted lace pattern (lace in every row) but is certainly achievable for a confident beginner. The decreases at the crown echo the lace design so the hat has a consistent appearance all the way to the top.

Lace pattern is both written and charted.

Pattern has been professionally tech-edited.
