Knitted in buttery-soft Merino wool yarn, this pattern uses simple stitches and a couple of pretty final flourishes to create a flattering jumper.
Issue 29 of Knit Now is on sale on the 12th December, available from newsagents, supermarkets, craft shops and www.moremags.com
Sizes: XS (S, M, L, XL, 2X, 3X)
Bust: 32 (35, 38½, 41½, 45, 48.5, 52) in/ 81 (89, 98, 105, 114, 123, 132) cm.
The sample is size M.
The sweater is knitted in the round, top down, with raglan shaping. The bottom edge has “stripes” of alternating stockinette stitch and reverse stockinette stitch, forming 3-dimensional welts. An i-cord is used to gather up the welts into soft folds at each side and is tied in a bow. The i-cord is easily removed if not wanted. (This welted design feature helps disguise an imperfect tummy area.)
The body is knitted in a “broken rib” pattern. Its texture adds interest and its stretchiness ensures a smooth fit.
Waist shaping adds a graceful look. The sleeves also feature the striped welts. The neckline and sleeve edges are trimmed with a delicate picot edging, adding a touch of elegance to this pretty, easy-to-wear top.
Note: You can easily customize the sleeve length and total length to your taste. FYI, the top 2 pictures are the same garment, size M, one on a model, and one on the designer!
