This rectangular shawl is a relatively easy shawl to knit. The centre panel is knitted in the Old Shale Lace pattern. The panel is cast on at the centre with a provisional cast on and knitted outwards either side of the centre cast on. Links have been provided to demonstrations of both provisional cast ons suggested in the Notes. The edging is knitted onto the shawl while casting off stitches as you go. The sample shawl has been worked in 3 colours of multi coloured sock yarn. It can be worked in a single colour yarn in either sock or lace weight. The materials in the pattern list the yarns used in the sample shawl and an alternative lace weight yarn.
