I have always knitted from a young age. I also learnt to crochet when I was 12 and broke my leg skiing. (I still crochet but I don’t ski!). I knitted from patterns until my early 20s when I started to design my own hand knits.
When my son was born I left work and brought a knitting machine. I ran a small business for about 4 years selling machine knitted garments mainly for children.
My daughter was born 2 months early and then we moved with my husband’s job so I closed the knitting business and studied the City and Guilds course in machine knitting.
I started teaching machine knitting and then hand knitting as well and worked as a freelance designer. I currently teach the City and Guilds Certificate and Diploma in Hand Knit Textiles and am developing a Machine Knit textiles course (to replace the City and Guilds course) as well as offering a range of workshops covering both hand knitting and machine knitting techniques.
I also write techniques articles as well as designing patterns for ‘Knitting’ magazine and have had designs published in The Knitter, Simply Knitting and Let’s Knit.
