I designed this jumper as a sloppy joe, perfect for putting on as you rush around doing odd jobs on an autumn day or great for snuggling on the sofa on winter days. I hope you enjoy knitting it! I chose Mohair Tweed DK from Donegal Yarns as the best yarn for this pattern. To reflect the Irish origins of the yarn, I gave the pattern an Irish name. Leannan (LAN-AWN) is the Irish word for lover or perfection in our hearts.

This jumper uses my favourite rib, where you do a row of knit stitch after you’ve done a row of knit and purl. It’s a step up from garter stitch, and it’s what I love to knit if I want something that is still easy to knit at the end of a busy day but offers a little bit more of a challenge.

I love traditional, natural yarns and the Mohair Tweed reflects this because, nestled between the hills of South West Donegal and the Atlantic Ocean, Donegal Yarns Wool spinning mill can trace its origin back to the centuries old tradition of tweed effect yarns domestically spun in Donegal.

EDIT: I designed this jumper to launch at Yarndale, the Skipton annual yarn festival, in 2017 and I feel like I have lived in it every autumn/winter ever since! It is so comfy to pop on and relax in when I go for autumnal walks when the air is chilly but the sun is making you feel warm.

For this pattern I used:

Yarn & Amounts: 11(13:15:16:17) 50g balls of Mohair Tweed (70% merino/30% mohair, 110m/120yds per 50g).

NOTES ON PATTERN
This is a generously sized sweater. It is designed to be a wide sloppy joe. Double check the actual measurement against a similar jumper you have in your wardrobe.
Worked flat from bottom up.
