Liken was inspired by a beautiful and unique shelf lichen I brought home from San Juan Island, WA, a veritable paradise. I tried to capture the drama and flow of the island setting in the modulations of this design, which uses three colors of yarn and includes colorwork, lace, and beads. I guarantee you won’t be bored!

Suggested yarn
Abstract Fiber O’Keefe (light fingering weight, 80% merino, 20% silk, 400 yds/100 g). Kits are available containing three yarn colors. The kits do not contain beads.

Those of you who are using beads will need approx. 494 (38 grams) size 6/0 glass seed beads, preferably Japanese. If you plan to use beads, please purchase a few extra.
