Liria combines unique lace and textured stitches in a design inspired by the beautiful magnolia trees. The large open lace shapes are reminiscent of the plant’s large blossoms and glossy leaves, while the textured stitches add movement to the knit much like wind brings movement to the magnolia’s branches.

There are two shapes included in this pattern, a crescent shawl and a rectangular scarf. The crescent is worked in one piece from the top down starting with a simple set of stockinette stitch short rows, followed by the textured lace border. The scarf is worked in one piece from end to end, with each end featuring a different and unique lace pattern.

Although the lace may look intricate, it uses only basic easy stitches. This makes Liria a great first time lace project and a perfect quick last-minute gift since it is worked with only a single skein of a scrumptious DK or fingering weight yarn.

The Liria pattern is now available as Ravelry download. The pdf was updated to include written row-by-row directions as well as the chart.
