Looking for the perfect piece of knitwear for your aspiring little hero? This raglan-style pullover features a motif of fire engines racing across the body, sure to delight any action-loving little one. A button placket placed along one raglan seam allows for plenty of head and neck room. Both the sleeves and body are knit in the round, the body is then divided and the front and back portions of the yoke are worked flat. Skills required to knit this pattern include increasing, decreasing, ability to read a color chart and work with two colors of yarn in a single row. Some seaming is also required.

Sizing: 3 mo. (6 mo., 12 mo., 18 mo., 2 years, 4 years, 6 years, 8 years)

Finished chest circumference: 19 (19.75, 21.25, 22.75, 24.75, 27, 28.5, 30)”; 48 (50, 54, 58, 63, 69, 73, 76) cm

Gauge: 25 sts x 26 rows = 4” (10 cm) in both plain and patterned stst. Because stranded colorwork tends to pull knitting in, the recommended needle size for the body of the pullover is a US 7(4.5 mm), while the recommended needle size for sleeves is a US 6 (4 mm). Be sure to check your gauge and adjust needle sizes as needed to obtain the correct gauge in both stranded and single color stst.

A note about the pattern files

This pattern comes in two different formats, “tables” and “traditional”:
The “tables” format is provided as an alternative to the traditional small (large, larger) format of writing instructions for different sizes. In this file, a point with different numbers for each size is written as a blank followed by a letter, such as _____(A). Tables are provided at the end of the pattern with numbers for each size/letter combination. Find your size at the top of the table, go down the column until you get to the row with the required number, and fill this value into the blank. This version of the pattern is 5 pages in length.

The “traditional” format follows more conventional formatting of writing instructions, numbers for all sizes are contained within the pattern text. This version of the pattern is 3 pages in length.

Each PDF contains all the charts and directions needed and is a self-contained unit. Simply pick the format that is most appealing to you.
