Companion mitts to the Lochmoor Headband, Lochmoor Mitts feature an extended cuff to keep cold breezes at bay. An attractive, four plait cable travels the length of the mitts and right into the cuff, blending seamlessly with the 2/1 ribbing, while the palms are simple stockinette for comfort. Mitt/thumb lengths are easily modified for more coverage, if desired.

SIZING NOTE

For your reference when picking a size to work, our model is wearing a size Medium. Her actual palm circumference is 7.5” (19 cm).

CONSTRUCTION

Mitts are worked in the round from the wrist up using mirrored cables and a 2/1 ribbing for added visual interest.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Knitting in the round
  • Increase and decrease stitches - M1L, M1R, K2TOG, SSK
  • Cable stitches - 2/2 LC, 2/2 RC

This pattern includes complete written directions. No chart.

YARN NOTES

A worsted weight yarn with good stitch definition and little to no halo is recommended. Some tonals will work, but highly variegated yarn will distract from the cable pattern.

ADDITIONAL NOTIONS

Tapestry/blunt yarn needle
Stitch markers (3 per mitt)
Scrap (approx 6”/15 cm) of waste yarn

NOTES

I recommend highlighting all numbers that pertain to the size you are working to assist you in following the pattern.
