London is Calling!

Pattern updated 4.20.19 to fix Rows 41 & 42 of Lace Border Chart and correct the stitch count in Body Row 1.

We continue our year of Mystery shawls in London, England. The gothic architecture and history of this city have inspired me to create a lacy crescent shaped shawl worked from the bottom up in a new sport weight yarn base with optional beadwork.

Our lovely shawl is created from a single color of sport weight yarn. Beading is optional, but a great introduction to using beads.

Stunning String Studio is offering “London Shadows” yarn kits in your choice of over 200 colors, complete with beads, stitch markers and more!

The pattern discussions will be in the Wild Prairie Knits group, so come and join us.

This pattern is knitCompanion® supported. What does that mean?

Details:
Skills: Pattern is fully written out and charted. The stitches used are all pretty basic, so it is a relaxing knit, but with lots of detail to keep you interested. Basic knit increases and decreases (yo, k2tog, ssk) are included, but anything beyond that will be explained in detail as we go along. We will be offering a good introduction to short rows, beading (optional) and lace.

Yarn: Stunning String Super Sport (100% Superwash Merino, 325 yds (297 m), 100 grams), 2 skeins in Stained Glass
Or any sport weight yarn, 620 yds (567 m).
Recommendations: Pattern was written with single color kettle dyed yarns in mind.

Needles: US 7 (4.5 mm) 47” (120 cm) circular needle, or size required to obtain gauge.

Gauge: 19 stitches & 28 rows per 4” (10cm) in unblocked stockinette stitch. Although gauge is not critical, it will affect overall size and yarn requirements.

Other: Stitch Markers
Optional: 500 Beads 5/0 (4mm) (or that will fit on your yarn) and tool to apply beads, crochet hook, Super Floss or a beading tool.
