Your lucky hat for agility trials this winter!

This hat features everything agility and will surely get you lots of compliments (and hopefully Qs!) at your next winter trial.

About this hat:

  • One size fits all teens & adults
  • Featured designs: A-frame, “Q”, weave poles, tunnel, tire jump, jump, bone, heart, QQ, more!
  • Yarn: Fingering weight (KnitPicks Palette or similar), one ball each of light blue, dark blue, white, red, yellow.
  • Needle: #3, 16” circular or dpns (or size to get gauge)

Note: The main photos have a larger space between the words at the bottom because that particular hat went to someone who also wanted her dog’s catch phrase on the hat. You are welcome to put whatever words you like around the bottom of the hat. :-)

Just a tip (the PDF is not changed). I recently learned the STUART method - http://techknitting.blogspot.com/2016/10/taming-long-floa... - and it is FABULOUS for keeping an even tension in the A-frames area of the pattern.

If you’re comfortable using a crochet hook to fix a dropped stitch, you can do STUART. If you’re using KnitPicks Palette, it is VERY “sticky” wool so you do not run the risk of a dropped stitch getting out of hand.

Put your catchment column right in the center of the A-frame. Keep catching until you get to the line where there are 5 MC stitches between the A-frame CC. In the next row, that’s when you’ll want to unravel and rehook twice. (the URT of STUART)
