I created this baby blanket for little cousin Lucy, before she was born. I knitted it while she grew in her mothers womb, and put the finishing touches on it while I waited to hear that she had been born.

The blanket starts with a provisional cast-on from which a simple garter stitch square is knit. Stitches are then picked up along the side edges of the square and the provisional cast-on in unzipped and knit onto the circular needle.
The work is then joined in the round and the lace “frame” is knit around the square of garter stitch. The frame consists of simple rounds of garter and an simple lace pattern.
The pattern contains both charted and line-by-line instructions for the lace pattern.
