Malus pumila is the Latin name for the apple tree, and the yarn used for the pattern sample reminded me of the yellows, reds, greens and oranges of different apple varieties.
The scarf is an asymmetrical triangle with an easy-to-memorise mesh edging and a stocking stitch body that shows off solid, semi-solid, or multicoloured yarns well.
The scarf measures 11 ½” (29cm) deep and 50 ½”(125.5cm) wide when knitted to pattern tension of 18 sts and 34 rows to 4” (10cm) in blocked stocking stitch. Achieving exact pattern tension is not vital but it may affect the finished size of your scarf and yarn requirements if you do not.

You will need: up to 420 yards of fingering weight yarn
3.75mm (US 5) needles
darning needle for sewing in ends

You need to be able to: work from written instructions (pattern includes written instructions only), work common increases and decreases
