This generously sized shopping bag has enough room to hold plenty of purchases without the handles digging into your hands. The drop stitch pattern makes the fabric stretchy to hold your shopping. Make it in one colour, or use up oddments of cotton yarn by working in stripes for a fun look to your bag. The bag is constructed from the bottom up, starting with a circle formed using Elizabeth Zimmerman’s Pi principle. Once the main body of the bag is completed, the handle is formed and the fabric is turned to the inside to strengthen the top edge of the bag and make the handle comfortable to hold. You can adjust the height of the bag by working fewer pattern repeats if you prefer a shorter bag.

You will need: 300 yds/275m of DK-weight cotton or cotton-blend yarn, 5mm/US 8 knitting needles for working in the round (small and larger circumferences), Darning needle for weaving in ends

You need to be able to: work in the round over both smaller and larger circumferences, work simple drop-stitch pattern, work KFB increase, simple seaming
