IMPORTANT: This pattern is available for free on my blog, but if you would rather work from paper or if you want to support me as a designer, I have also made a ready-to-print PDF available for a small fee. This also comes in a printer friendly version without pictures. The PDF version is available here on Ravelry or on Etsy.

The Inspiration
One day I was walking in a local park and I saw a magnificent Japanese maple tree. I knew immediately that I wanted to make something based on this tree and the result of that is the Maple Leaf cardigan. With this cardigan I have tried to encapsulate autumn and especially this Japanese maple tree.
The cardigan is part of the Poetry Collection. This collection has designs that are all accompanied by poems. I have chosen to write a haiku for this cardigan, because I felt it was the most fitting.

This pattern consists of

  • Written instructions (US terms) accompanied by photo’s where needed
  • Stitch counts for every row, so you will always know if you’re doing it right. No more frogging!
  • The pattern is available for free on my blog, but if you’d rather work from a PDF, I have also made that option available for a small fee.

Used Techniques

  • Standard stitches (US terms): slip stitches, chains, single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet.
  • Special stitches: tr, fptr, dc2tog, dc3tog
  • Special techniques: picking up stitches at the side of your work (explained with text and pictures).

Yarn & sizes
The cardigan is made with Scheepjes Merino Soft (105m/50g) which is a merino, acrylic and microfibre blend. Please go to this page to get detailed info on yarn requirements and the measurements of the cardigan.

The pattern was tested in English. The Dutch version was not tested, so little typos may still be present. Please contact me via email if you have found a mistake, or if you need help with the pattern.
