Inspired by sweaters and shawls where strips of lace are bordered by contrasting stripes, Marcella Socks were born. Worked only with one color at a time and a contrasting “seam” on the back of the sock, only 4 ends need to be woven in per sock. Use your favorite leftover yarn for the contrasting color - only 40 yards are needed for the size medium (M) with 9” foot. This pattern uses the Starlight Lace pattern to add a beautiful touch of complexity.

This pattern uses Sox Therapist’s Fish Lips Kiss Heel available on Ravelry for $1.00: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/fish-lips-kiss-heel

The lace pattern is charted, so you must be able to read charts to successfully knit this pattern.

A crochet hook is used to create the contrasting “seam” up the back of the sock. The pattern includes a photo tutorial demonstrating the construction of the seam.

The sample sock was knit with Plucky Feet in Prickly Pear and Curtsy, using 230 + 40 yards for a size M with a 9” foot.

Supplies:
1 40-inch US #1.5/2.5mm circular needle or US#1.5/2.5mm double pointed needles (or size needed to achieve gauge)
1 2.5mm crochet hook (or same size as your knitting needle(s))
1 locking stitch marker
1 additional stitch marker (any type)
yarn needle
