This hat is a perfect quick project for any age. The slipped stitches highlight the smoothness of a single-ply yarn and is traditional with a modern twist. The pattern is continued throughout the crown shaping. Add a large pom pom if you wish to give it some whimsy, or some extra length to wear it slouchy, it’s easy to customize it to your preference.

Skill Level: Beginner

Sizes: infant (toddler, child, adult) to fit 17 (20, 21, 22.5)“ head circumference

Yarn: Approximately 65 (75, 95, 115) yards of aran or bulky weight yarn (see note)

Malabrigo Mecha (pure merino superwash wool; 130 yards/100 grams)

Note: Malabrigo Mecha is classified as a bulky weight yarn, but the guage can be similar to an aran weight. If substituting yarn, keep that in mind and work a gauge swatch to be sure.
