The Melissa Wristlet is a felted purse, big enough to hold a few essentials, but small enough to tuck into a briefcase or your Melissa tote bag. It is started with a 6 stitch I-Cord from which stitches for the body of the bag are picked up and increased to provide fullness. This can be knit from a single skein of Plymouth Galway, or Patons Classic Wool. Although techniques such as picking up stitches, knitting the body of the bag in the round on double pointed needles, and closing the bottom of the bag with a three needle bind off may be challenging to a new knitter, this is a fast project and felting makes gauge approximate and small mistakes disappear. A zippered lining is recommended and general instructions are included, although I recommend you have some sewing skills. Here is a link to a thread on the forum Bags-Bags-Bags on the topic of lining bags: link text

If you choose to knit this from another yarn, you may get different results. Note: Acrylic, rayon, cotton, and other non-animal fibers will not felt. For best results, use worsted weight wool, or wool blended with other animal fibers.
