Minero is one of two YOTH hats I designed for quick gift knitting this December, and I think they make a great pair - so if you would like both of them - Minero and Coralillo, the code GIFTHATS2 will get you the two PDFs for $10.

Minero is a beautifully distinct cabled hat, featuring slipped stitches and linear cables that lend themselves to some gorgeous crown detail at top. The texture of a little garter and the depth of an few slipped stitches really contrast against the purls and lines of the larger cables.

I worked the hat in a single skein of YOTH Father (in Olive). It’s a squishy, heavy worsted weight Rambouillet yarn that’s soft and round and just loves a cable.

I think Minero works as a unisex accessory for adults or bigger kids, and is beautiful with or without a pom. You can see in the photos that Misa’s husband Kelly looks great in it, and so does her daughter Lydia - although everyone was a little punchy by the time various family members began stealing hats and posing, so pardon all the goofiness! I actually like how Lydia wore the medium sized hat a little big on her head, and the crown made a cool shape….
