Mmmm…modular knitting! Knit a little piece, knit the next little piece right onto it, and soon you have a big piece of knitting. Here those little modules are mitered squares, one of the easiest and most magical of modular designs. To ward off any boredom, the design combines a mix of different sizes of modules. In cozy and squishy garter stitch, this scarf is definitely warm enough to quality as a muffler, not merely a scarf.

At gauge, the muffler measures 10” x 72”. Gauge determines width. Length can be adjusted easily.

Pattern has detailed written instructions plus a schematic describing the construction in a graphical way. Some knitters will want to knit the muffler entirely from the schematic.

Sample knitted with two yarns that contrast well. This pattern would also look great with two yarns more closely related in color, or with one of the yarns being variegated. Colorwork does not have to be difficult!
