Pattern:
This Advent Calendar Stole 2016 is a rectangular shaped shawl. The shawl is composed of 12 clues and each has a different stitch pattern/motif. There are two different formats for the patterns. There are patterns with instructions for both RS and WS rows. And there are patterns with instructions for the RS rows only, in these patterns all stitches (except the border stitches) are purled. Between each pattern there are a few resting rows with the name “Interlude”. In the Interlude part stitches are either increased or decreased to fit the next pattern The shawl uses approximately 800 - 880 meters / 874 – 962 yards of fingering yarn, depending on the needle size used. The advice is to use a solid/semi-solid colour. The finished size is approximately: 170cm x 45cm | 67” x 18”.

Skill level:
Advanced beginner. Pattern includes charts and full written instructions. There will also be suggestions for bead placement.

Gauge:
Gauge isn’t important but will determine the final size of the shawl and the amount of yarn needed.

Tools:
Circular needles in size US4/3.5mm for all patterns and US3/3.25mm for the “Interlude” parts, depending on your knitting tension and a tapestry needle. Beads are optional. Adding beads to the Interlude parts requires 176 beads.

Please see the Never Enough Lace Group for two separate topics for the MKAL, with one that will be “spoiler free” for those who like to keep the mystery alive!

Each clue/pattern will be published separately.
