MKAL Advent Calendar Stole 2018

Pattern:
This Advent Calendar Stole 2018 is a rectangular shaped stole. The stole is composed of 12 clues and each has a different stitch pattern/motif. There are two different formats for the patterns. There are patterns with instructions for both RS and WS rows. There are also patterns with instructions for the RS rows only (instructions in the pattern will explain how the stitches have to be worked on the WS rows). Between each pattern there are a few resting rows with the name “Interlude”. The Interlude rows are used to either increase or decrease the number of stitches to fit the next pattern. The stole uses approximately 760 – 880 meters / 830 - 962 yards of fingering yarn, depending on the needle size used and personal way of knitting. I recommend using either a solid or a semi-solid colour for the stole. The finished size is approximately 168cm x 41cm | 66” x 16”. The stole can also be knitted in Lace weight yarn. The Lace weight stole used 801mtr/877yds of yarn. The Lace weight stole was knitted with mohair yarn and my tester used the needle sizes which are stated in the pattern. Final blocked measurements: 231cm x 41cm | 91” x 16”.

Skill level:
Advanced beginner. Pattern includes charts and full written instructions. There will also be suggestions for bead placement.

Gauge:
Gauge isn’t important but will determine the final size of the stole and the amount of yarn needed.

Suggested yarn:

Tools:
For fingering weight yarns: circular needles in size US4/3.5mm of 60 - 80cm/26 – 34 inch for all patterns and US3/3.25mm for the “Interlude” parts, depending on your knitting tension and a tapestry needle. Beads are optional. Adding beads to the Interlude rows require 176 beads.
