After having completely knitted the Hemlock Ring Blanket using the original pattern, Jared Flood’s chart and additional extensions, I was totally disappointed that the finished piece couldn’t be blocked. I had chosen TLC Cotton Plus so that it would be thin enough for a tablecloth. I chose not to “kill” the acrylic and worked on adapting a pattern that could be used for any fiber with a painless blocking experience.

This version of the Hemlock Ring allows the user to knit with cottons, acrylics and blended fibers. It is a written only pattern. Blocking becomes easier and the article still maintains the original pattern design. Note, however that by increasing repeats, the rounds will have larger amounts of stitches. This will also create a longer bind off time to complete. These instructions can be used for blankets, throws, shawls or tablecovers.

The pictured Hemlock Ring was knitted to round 105 (900 sts) of the modified extended pattern and then bound off in the original bind off instruction. You may choose to use other forms of bind off without affecting the project.

The Hemlock Ring requires the use of DPNs or Magic Loop and depending on how many rounds used may require 60” circulars.

Not a difficult pattern but requires “Stick-to-it-tiveness”.

Feel free to comment of send a message if you have any questions or problems! Enjoy!!!

Errata:
Rounds 35 and 37 both contain 206 sts.
Round 39 contains 204 sts.
