This beautiful unisex baby blanket is easy to knit, with impressive results.
The skills required are casting on, knitting, binding off, picking up and knitting stitches.
The main part of the blanket is worked in one piece, from bottom to top; then stitches for the side borders are picked up and knit along the side edges. There is no sewing involved!
Blanket requires a total of 800 yards of worsted weight yarn - 400 yards of main color ( for center section ), and 400 yards of contrast color ( for borders ).
The sample was knit using 4 skeins of Malabrigo Merino Worsted Weight yarn - 2 skeins of #623 / Nostalgia ( Main Color ) and 2 skeins of #37 / Lettuce ( Contrast Color ).
Gauge is 4 stitches = 1 inch in garter stitch, after blocking.
Size 8 circular needle ( 24” ) is recommended.
Change needle size as necessary, to achieve correct gauge. However, since this is a blanket, gauge is not critical.
Instructions are included for adapting the pattern, to knit at a different gauge and/or size.
