The Modjeska Cowl is a simple stranded colorwork project that would make a nice introduction to this technique. By using one solid color and one variegated color, it can look more complex than it is. Of course - two highly-contrasting solid colors looks great, too. The sample was knitted in Malabrigo Rios in Natural and Solis.

The looser version is shown in the photos. Instructions are included to make it more of a snug, stand-up type cowl if you prefer. The looser version is great for showing off your shawl pin collection.

The main design is charted. Skills needed are knitting in the round, stranded knitting, and understanding how to read a chart. (Simple, really… read from the bottom to the top, and from right to left.)
