This pattern was designed for highly variegated colorways where the colors tend to pool together when knit in a more basic stockinette or ribbed pattern.

Pattern includes both charted and written instructions, and is written in 4 sizes: Small, Medium, Large, and X-Large - approximate yarn required is 265yd (240m), 310yd (285m), 370yd (340m) and 430yd (395m) respectively.

Techniques used:

  • Knitting in the round
  • Knit/Purl
  • Increases (yo)
  • Decreases (k2tog, ssk)
  • Slipping stitches Picking up stitches
  • Grafting/Kitchener Stitch

This pattern uses decorative slipped stitches and small sections of texture and lace to help break up the pooling of colors that can often occur in variegated colorways.

The number of colors and the length of each color section can vary significantly within each individual skein of variegated yarn.

For some colorways, working the pattern as written will be all you will need to break up the pooling. For others, particularly those colorways with less variation or considerably longer color sections, you may need to get a bit more creative and see what works best for your particular colorway.

Suggestions and tips on how to impact the positioning of your colors are included in the pattern details.

A special thank you to my test knitters, Cherie, Janie, and Katharine, for all their time and input into the pattern.
