A pair of hats with fun motifs, great for Halloween time. This pattern includes both Monster and Bride motif designs.

Size

  • One size, Same size for both designs.
  • 18 ½” around x 9 ½” tall / 47 cm x 24 cm tall.

Yarn

  • Worsted Weight / 5 ply yarn
  • sample used Plymouth Yarn Galway (100% Pure Wool, 210 yards / 192 meters per 100 grams)
  • Colors – Black 0009, Bleach 008, Happy Green 0145
  • 110 yards of MC, 55 yards of CC to make 1 hat.
  • Yarn Substitute, use 2+ ply of worsted weight yarn, wool or superwash wool that yields target gauge.

Needles

  • US #5 / 3 mm, or change needles to obtain gauge

Gauge

  • 24 sts x 26 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in colorwork stitch after blocking.
  • 20 sts x 26 rows = 4” x 4” / 10 cm x 10 cm in stockinette stitch after bocking.
  • For this pattern, the stitch gauge is more important than the row gauge.
  • The listed measurement around the head is based on stitch count of colorwork section. To get that exact measurement, it is more important to have the correct colorwork stitch gauge.

Design and Construction

  • Work hat in round from bottom up.
  • Begin hat with 1x1 ribbing.
  • Work chart.
  • Work evenly until hat measures 7 ¼” / 18.5 cm.
  • Work decreases for the crown.
