Montañas Azules means “ blue mountains “ , as are the richly textured blues of the Andes Mountain Range in South America.

A monochromatic colorway of four shades of blue -or any color. It is knit in the round , with or without ear flaps (which are knit flat), incorporating braid stitches and tassels. Options to work corrugated ribbing instead of Latvian braid stitch, and also option to make crown less conical (pointy) by working faster decreases, for a rounder shape. Pattern includes link to my own photo tutorial for tassels.

Easy construction with challenging original colorwork !

About Yarn: I knit this in DK superwash merino yarn for someone who does not like scratchy wool, and it came out beautifully, soft and firm. I think it would also be great knit up firmly with worsted weight superwash with needles to get gauge 4.75-5sts = 1” to fall within the category of “large-xl”.

I invite Any & All who are knitting Montañas Azules Chullo, to bring questions, comments, great tutorial links, and otherwise general related chattiness to my Jenjoyce Group which exists just for knitters of Jenjoyce’s patterns. The kettle is on… see you there !
