This scarf showcases the beautiful colors of a hand-painted yarn worked in a very simple but effective lace pattern, easy enough for a beginner lace knitter to master. The undulating lace brings to mind rippling waves on a moonlit river, thus the name, Moon River Scarf.

The original was knitted with a lace yarn to achieve an ethereal quality; however, this pattern could also be worked in light-fingering, sport, or worsted-weight yarn on appropriately sized needles. Even further customization can be achieved by working a smaller or a larger number of pattern repeats horizontally, so that the knit can be easily modified into a scarf or a shawl of just about any size, making this the perfect stash-busting project. It is also a very fast knit, excellent for the last minute gift knitting.
