Morningstar is a beaded and lacy, top-down, crescent shaped shawl designed to be knit in almost any solid coloured, or semi-solid, heavy-weight lace yarn of around 600m/100g with the exception of alpaca-based yarns – you will need a yarn base that will retain its shape after blocking. The original shawl was worked in Lichtfaden Rei Lace which has a wonderfully crunchy texture perfect for this shawl.

IMPORTANT: Please be aware that on purchasing this pattern prior to 1st October 2019 you will only be able to download the PreRelease Information Sheet. The first clue will be sent automatically on 1st October at around 10am UK time.

The pattern will be released in seven clues as detailed below. Each new clue will be added to the previous clue(s) so you have an up to date pattern. An updated and complete pattern will be sent to all purchasers after the MKAL has finished. You might like to check each update as you may not need to print out the entire pattern on each release.

All clues will be released in October 2019: -
Clue One – 1st
Clue Two – 4th
Clue Three – 7th
Clue Four – 11th
Clue Five – 14th
Clue Six – 18th
Clue Seven – 21st

Finished size (as written): As written 75” (191cm) wide, 24.5” (62cm) deep after blocking. Measurements taken using Lichtfaden Rei Lace 625m/100g. Final measurements will depend on yarn used, tension and blocking and are therefore given as a guide only.

Circular Needles: 3.5mm (US4), 3.75mm (US5), 4mm (US 6) and 4.5mm (US7) circular needles or sizes to create a pleasing fabric with good drape, Stitch Markers, Needle, Blocking Pins. Changing needle size and gauge will result in a change in yardage requirements.

Beads and crochet hook: Just under 1300 Miyuki, Toho or Matubo size 6 seed beads and a size 1mm crotat hook (or crochet hook small enough to fit through the hole of your chosen beads).

Gauge: 17sts to 4” on Chart 2 using 3.75mm (US5) needles with measurements taken after blocking. A difference in tension will result in a difference in yardage requirements.

As always, we ask you to use the placeholder for the front page of your project, until the final clue has been released, so as not to spoil the mystery for other knitters. Click on the photograph on the pattern page and when the large image opens you can copy and paste the image address on to your own photo section of your Project Page. Remember that when you add progress photographs to your Project Page these will automatically become the front page so you will need to ensure the Placeholder remains as the first photograph.

Please see the Boo Group for separate threads for the MKAL with one that will be ‘spoiler free’ for those who like to keep the mystery alive!

The pattern is both fully written and charted with bead placement clearly indicated throughout.

If you like my designs please join us in the Boo Group where you will find a place to discuss my patterns, show off your knitting and hear about KALs and MKALs.
