A cloche style hat is a soft hat designed to be worn low on the forehead. It can and usually was embellished in some fashion. Ours is created with a heavily textured colourwork stitch. Mosaic knitting is a method of creating colourwork and textural patterns without carrying yarns across your work.

The Cloch is knit flat for the mosaic band and then knit in the round for the remainder of the hat. Ties for the bow are picked-up and knit on after the body of the cloche is finished.

– hat itself does not change size, the hatband is either shorter or longer – further small changes in sizing can be made with the knot at the side.
