This design - The Columbia Gorge and the Oregon Coast Range are the inspiration for my sock. I spent my teenage years wandering the trails in the Columbia Gorge, often finding comfy moss-covered logs to lean again while I knit or read. The cables in the socks represent the many mountain streams as they tumble over the rocks in the streams. The lace represents the ferns in the rainy coast range. I chose the Mossy Bark colorway because it is evocative of the trees and moss in western Oregon. The pattern continues down the heel so that the socks can be worn with open-backed clogs – a Pacific Northwest Favorite. Many Oregonians (most?) have a practical, free spirit and love comfort. For this reason the sock has the stockinette sole with the knit side facing to the inside of the sock for ultimate comfort.
