Meet our adorable Mouse. He’s cute, cuddly and very lovable.

This Mouse is suitable for advanced beginner knitters and assumes an understanding of basic stitches and standard knitting terms. Our Mouse is knit flat and sewn together using a mattress stitch.

If you’re new to knitting stuffed friends, or are uncomfortable winging it without strict guidelines (that’s OK, we all need good directions sometimes to help us out) you will need approximately 16 m of medium weight yarn. With this yarn, use 4 mm (US size 6) needles. You will also need a small amount of yarn for embroidering the face, stuffing (we use ecofil or wool) and a needle to sew your mouse together.

The beauty of knitting stuffed friends is that this pattern can be knit in any size yarn with accompanying needles. Generally we find using a size or two smaller needles than required by the yarn allows for the tightness needed when you’re stuffing your finished product.

This Mouse Pattern is ideal for using up ends of yarn that are too long to throw away, but too short to knit into anything else. We encourage you to tie all your similar sized yarns together to make one huge ball of ‘mouse’ yarn - variations in colours make your mice interesting and there’s nothing better than using up old yarns!

If you have some catnip, please feel free to stuff your knit mouse with a combination of catnip and stuffing, your cat will love you for it!
