I designed this hat for a photographer friend who wanted it for a newborn prop. Once my pattern was established, I made several more to sell on Etsy as well. This bunny hat was one of my most requested items when I was selling on Etsy.

It’s an adorable newborn size bunny hat. Since babies come in all sizes, it may fit some older babies too…up to 2 months perhaps.

Bunnies often remind us of Spring and of Easter, and so it’s a popular photo prop for newborn babes born in the spring. It’s cute enough for photos, but can be used to keep your little one’s noggin warm too.

With 1 skein of the main color, you could make several of these hats, or use the leftovers to make something else. And the contrasting color uses very little…less than 10 yards.

Tips: Getting gauge isn’t crucial for this. But if your finished hat is too small, try using a larger hook. Too big? Try a smaller hook. If sewing the ears on is proving difficult, try tying the ears in place (inside the hat) or pinning to the hat with safety pins or locking stitch markers before sewing just to make sure they’re where you want them. And an empty 40 oz. peanut butter jar makes a decent hat stand for a newborn-size hat!

This pattern is for personal use only. Feel free to make them as gifts, for charity, or for your own use. But please do not sell hats made with this pattern without my permission! Thank you!
