The fun-loving North American River Otter tends to live alone or in pairs, but they socialize in groups and are known for their playful behavior with one another. :-)

The otter knit from this pattern has a strong, muscular body and short legs, just like the real thing. It begins with intarsia to work the white chest with brown on either side. The body and tail and worked in the round.

The head is worked flat in two pieces (top and bottom), each one a different color, and a small pocket creates a darling mouth. North American River Otter is 20” long (including the tail) and 5” wide.

(This is a pattern that has been substantially revised from an earlier self-published release.)

Learn more about this wonderful animal and 24 others when you read the pages of a naturalist as she travels the world, documenting the animals she sees, and designing knitting patterns for each one. This book was a collaboration with my children who did the artwork.
