I designed this for a growing boy. He is still a little boy, but no so little any more. So I made a grown up sweater complete with thick ribbing and garter stitch edging in a little boy size.

Not-so-little Boy Blue is worked from the top down in one piece with classic raglan shaping.

Sizes: S (child 4-6), M (child 6-8), L (child 8-10)

Finished chest measurements: 28 (30, 32) inches. Sweater shown measures 30”. (A note on sizes: I’ve always found that the children I knit for need sweaters wider around than standardized charts indicate for ease of wear, fit and comfort. I have followed my heart for the chest measurements on this design. Please measure the child you will knit for around the fullest part of the chest and add a minimum of 2” to that measurement to pick the appropriate size for this project instead of relying solely on the ages indicated).

Suggested Yarn: 4 (4, 5) balls/ 800 (900, 1000) yards of Valley Yarns Northampton (100% worsted wool, 247 yards per 100 g ball) (Note: The indicated yardage should give you extra yarn, but always better to have too much than too little).

Gauge: 20 sts = 4 inches (or 5 spi) in ribbed pattern. (Note: This is a slightly tighter gauge than indicated on the ball band due the to ribbed pattern.)

Needles: US 7-8 (Adjust needle size as necessary to obtain the correct gauge).
