Gauge is not important, just make sure to go down a few needle sizes than is recommended on the ball band of your yarn. I generally use DK, sport, or worsted weight on size US 3 needles, but I’m a tight knitter, so do what works for you. Make sure you use a durable fiber as well, I usually use wool.

Finished measurements are approximately 4 inches from the top of the key ring to the bottom of the tentacles, and 1 inch across at the widest part of the body.
