I modified this pattern from a vintage men’s sock pattern first published in the 1960’s. This is a top down knit with a simple 2 x 2 ribbed pattern on the leg and top of the foot. Heel flap is worked in short rows with slip stitches for reinforcement, then joined to the body to finish out the foot.

Easy variations could include contrasting tops and heels, or an alternate rib or stitch pattern.

Sizes are based on Women’s size 8 shoe and up. I will add update for smaller sizes as I work the stitch counts out down the road!

I used double pointed needles sizes 1 and 2 with Spun Right Round’s SW sock, but you could use any fingering weight sock yarn. A single skein will make all sizes unless you want a crazy long leg.

Gauge: 28 sts and 36 rows = 4” on St st.

Enjoy!!
